Eamonn O’Dwyer

Born to a Guyanese mother and an Irish father, Eamonn was raised in Bedford and trained as a chorister at Westminster Cathedral in London.  After further instrumental and classical voice training at Ampleforth College and a first class degree in Music from York University, he went on to study Musical Theatre as a post-graduate at the Royal Academy of Music.

Since graduating with Distinction in 2003, Eamonn has performed in many of the country’s finest theatres with touring theatre company ATP, and has had leading roles in productions in such theatres as the New Theatre in Oxford, the Greenwich Theatre, and The Courtyard, King’s Cross.  Eamonn’s first film, On Love was screened at the Curzon Cinema Soho, and No Alibi was shown as part of the 2005 Cannes Film Festival.  He is a member of 'Cut to the Chase', an actor-musician company based at The Queen's Theatre in Hornchurch, where his credits included A View From The Bridge and Wait Until Dark.

Eamonn created the role of Cameron in Our Kind of Fun, a new play by Alice de Smith at the Live Theatre in Newcastle, and played the Chief Weasel in Alan Bennett’s adaptation of The Wind in the Willows at the Theatre by the Lake in Keswick.  He also premiered a monologue by Cumbrian writer Beth Broomby entitled Not Yet Midnight in the Theatre by the Lake Studio.

In November 2005 Eamonn appeared as George III in Peter Maxwell Davies' groundbreaking music theatre piece, Eight Songs for a Mad King.  The performance was part of the North Eastern Scotland Sound Music Festival.

Eamonn also played the role of First Venticello in Tony Award-winning director John Doyle’s stunning production of Amadeus by Sir Peter Shaffer, with Jonathan Broadbent and Matthew Kelly.  This timely revival earned a nomination for Best Off-West End Production at the 2007 What’s On Stage Awards.

In April 2007 Eamonn worked on a new dramatisation of The Mahabharata at Sadler’s Wells, written by Olivier Award-winning writer Stephen Clark, and with music by Nitin Sawhney
